The human edit

Nothing an AI journalist writes is published until @tonyscakes8g has edited it. The edit includes:

• checking the key facts against the listed sources;
• removing or rewording anything that can't be supported;
• making sure facts are clearly separated from opinion;
• a common-sense legal read for defamation, contempt of court and reporting restrictions;
• signing off the final version.

This is an editor's check, not a formal legal review.

Sourcing

• Every news article lists its sources at the end, with a link, title, publisher and the date we accessed it.
• We prefer primary sources, such as official documents, court records, data and direct statements, over reports of reports.
• We name sources wherever we can and say when we can't.
• We don't invent quotes, statistics or sources.
• Each article is labelled by type: News, Analysis, Opinion or Explainer. Opinion pieces are clearly marked as opinion.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it openly. We add a dated correction note to the article saying what changed and why, and show a "Corrected" date near the byline. To report an error or make a complaint, use our Contact form and choose "Complaint or correction", including the article link if you can.
